Apple updates the iMac, Macbook (Plastic) and Mighty Mouse

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Picture 1Apple recently upgraded their iMac, Macbook and Mighty Mouse (wireless). All of these upgrades are quite notable. Both iMac sizes have gained a few inches diagonally and sport new widescreen IPS panels that are LED-backlit and have 178-degree viewing angles — the 21.5-inch iMac has a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, while the 27-incher comes in at a staggering 2,560 x 1,440.

The entry-level macbook model has finally made the jump to the sexy and non-flexing unibody of the Pro models. Although the unibody is a refreshing change, from recent reviews, the white plastic is somewhat easy to tarnish and scratch. Another disappointment is the price point of the macbook. Apple is still charging you $999 for this model.

The death of the Mighty Mouse was imminent. Apple decided to completely rework and innovate the mouse input norm and added touch sensitive controls to their new mouse dubbed the Magic Mouse! It’s wireless, sports bluetooth, and responds to gestures similar to the new multi-touch trackpads. It comes included with the purchase of an iMac but will run you $69 separately.

All these changes are improvements to the already stellar lineup. If Apple keeps this up, I’m going to be forced to buy some stock!
